How Did the Singapore Stock Market Perform Today?
Hi, Fools! Here are three things about the local stock market and investing in general that you might be interested in today.
1. The Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI), ended the day after our nation’s birthday at 3,323.24 points. This was a slight increase of 5.16 points or 0.16%.
The STI component that gained the most today was shipbuilder, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings Ltd (SGX: BS6), adding 2.6% to S$1.595.
Early this week, the shipping firm announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2017. For the quarter, revenue increased by 27% year-on-year to RMB3.8 billion as all of its business segments did well. Meanwhile, net profit surged 73% to RMB719.9 million.
On the other hand, Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd (SGX: C07), was the STI component that lost the most ground. It slipped 3.5% to S$40.12.
